This cake was created to celebrate my folks 50th wedding anniversary! There are 25 gum paste Calla Lilies and 25 roses (combination of gum paste and buttercream), totaling 50 flowers. This symbolism is two different flowers coming together to make a beautiful blooming basket, just as two people have come together to make a beautiful life. The basket weave is done in buttercream, and the cake is fresh lemon with blueberry filling and a layer filled with lemon curd. It was very yummy!
